Description
This purpose of this synopsis is to notify potential vendors of a requirement that the Memphis Tennessee, VA Medical Center has. A contractor is needed to provide 24-hour, seven days per week, non-emergent wheelchair, stretcher, and ambulatory transportation services for the beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Memphis TN. These services include all federal holidays for appointments scheduled either at the VA Memphis Medical Center or other facilities for which the VA Memphis has scheduled these appointments. The Memphis VA Medical Center is located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue, Memphis Tennessee, 38104. This contract shall be for a base period of six months with the option to extend three additional optiona year periods. Service is to begin 04/01/2017. The contractor must provide enough vehicles to meet the service requirements. All vehicles used to transport patients in wheelchairs must be equipped with a wheelchair lift that is in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) (49 CFR Parts 27, 37, and 38). The vehicles also must have a wheelchair lockdown system, a 70 doorway clearance, a 15 raised roof (minimum clearance) on all vans transporting wheelchair patients. There must be sufficient clearance inside the vehicle to accommodate high-backed wheelchairs. All passenger locations in all vehicles transporting VA patients will have both lap and shoulder restraint systems. If transporting veterans in electric mobility carts, the cart should be secured the same as a wheelchair and the patient should be seated in a seat and properly A request for quote will publicized on www.FBO.gov on or about February 1st 2017.
