Description
In accordance with these specifications the Contractor shall supply all labor, materials, appurtenances, equipment, shop facilities, supervision, tools, staging, and any other items necessary investigate a suspected leak in sewer line. The sewer line to be inspected is labeled "Originally Abandon Now Active" on the attached drawings. The sewer line is approximately 380 feet, to include the sewer line connecting Manhole 6 and Manhole 14, the sewer line connecting Manhole 14 and Manhole 13, and the sewer line going south from Manhole 13 ending on the south edge of Randolph Rd. 1. Confined Space Entry Plan: Contractor shall provide a Confined Space Entry Plan to insure compliance with the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR and the current EM 385-1-1. Contractor shall also provide air monitoring, a retrieval system and all other necessary equipment for a physical inspection of the sewer line. 2. Cleaning: Sewer pipeline shall be flushed to remove all accumulations including sludge, dirt, sand, rocks, grease, and other solid or semisolid material in the pipe or manhole and on the pipe or manhole inside wall. 3. Video Inspection: The camera shall be moved through the pipeline in either direction at a uniform rate, stopping when necessary to ensure proper documentation of the sewer's condition. In no case shall the television camera be pulled or propelled at a speed greater than thirty (30) feet per minute. The camera height shall be adjusted such that the camera lens is always centered in the pipe being inspected. The equipment shall have an accurate footage counter, which shall display on the monitor the exact distance of the camera from the centerline of the starting manhole. Contractor shall remove any tree roots that block the camera from moving through the pipeline. There is a probability that tree roots exist in and around the pipeline. 4. Pot Hole: Upon completion of the video inspection Contractor shall provide 2 days of pot holing to further investigate suspect areas near the sewer pipe line.
