Description
SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS This market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for supporting a developmental effort that produces a field reliable, sustainable, nuclear certified munitions lift trailer that will completely replace the MHU-196 and MHU-204 trailers (herein referred to as MHU-196/204). The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION To address aging DoD nuclear deterrent support equipment, USAF approved a permanent modification program slated to extend the service life (20+ yrs) of the MHU-196/204 trailers. Thus, c ontract HC1047-05-D-4005 (Order RI-09-0032/0120) was awarded, resulting in a system-level MHU-196/204 PoC utilizing off-the-shelf / state-of-the art electronics and hardware. The full-system produced under contract HC1047-05-D-4005 (Order RI-09-0032/0120) did not result in a production-representative article capable of transitioning into the workforce via depot or third part action. This SSS will help finalize a course of action. See attached reports R60244-00018 and R60544-40001. The new trailer will be required to meet each specification; however, the single unit resulting from this effort shall be so configured as to allow a full support to all B-1B, B-2, and B-52 aircraft. Currently, the MHU-196 exclusively supports the B-1B and B-52 aircraft (higher extension, etc.); the MHU-204 supports the B-2 aircraft (lower overall height when the nuclear package fully lowered, etc.).
