Description
Special Announcement Derrick Boat Elizabeth Industry Day 2017 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District would like to invite ship repair industry contractors to Industry Day 2017 for the Derrick Boat Elizabeth Shipyard Project. The Derrick Boat Elizabeth is a former US Navy Sea Plane Wrecking Derrick (YSD) originally built in 1944 and acquired by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1960. The DB Elizabeth is a 104 ft. x 31 ft. x 5 ft. boat with a 70 Ton crane primarily used by the Norfolk District Navigation Support and Survey Section to clear hazards to navigation affecting the federal channels within the District. The DB Elizabeth is due for regularly scheduled dry-docking and maintenance as well as repairs to enhance the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel. The event will be held at the Norfolk District Waterfield Building located at 803 Front Street, Norfolk, Virginia on February 13, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Check-in for the event will begin at 12:30 pm. If there is sufficient interest, participation by webinar will be arranged with the details to follow in an amendment to this announcement. This event is not a marketing opportunity and will not promote upcoming projects. The purpose and focus of the event will be to seek ship repair industry input and their questions regarding best practices for the technical execution of the Derrick Boat Elizabeth Shipyard Project. The event will include a presentation by Norfolk District staff members giving current information regarding general vessel characteristics, scope of work, and timeline. All interested attendees must pre-register by e-mail to Mrs. Stormie Wicks, Contract Specialist, at Stormie.B.Wicks@usace.army.mil or Eartha Garrett, Chief of Civil Works and IIES Contracting Branch, at Eartha.Garrett@usace.army.mil referencing the "Derrick Boat Elizabeth Industry Day" no later than February 10, 2017. E-mail requests beyond the due date will not be accepted. Telephone requests will not be accepted. The registration email must include: name, company, day-time telephone number, e-mail address, and your relation to the ship repair industry as reason for attendance. Registrants are encouraged to include suggested topics for discussion when registering. A valid driver's license is required to gain access to USACE Norfolk facilities. This is a non-fee event and seating is limited. Meals will not be served; however, coffee and water will be provided. The Government will not be conducting one-on-one discussions related to any potential contract or ongoing work under contract during this event. This announcement is not a contract solicitation, request for proposal of any sort, a promise to issue any future contract, a forum to discuss upcoming work, or a commitment to offer work of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume liability for costs incurred by an attendee or for travel expenses for marketing efforts. Contracting Office Address: US Army Corps of Engineers.
