Description
The Corps of Engineers, Huntsville Center is issuing this sources sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support the requirement for 36 hours of classroom instruction of the Medical Military Construction (MILCON)/Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (SRM) (227) course. This will be combined with case studies and group exercises to encourage meaningful discussions and provide hands-on experience. This course provides an overview of the rules and practices that govern the construction of medical healthcare facilities from programming through construction and occupancy. Construction of medical facility types is governed by a strict set of codes and requirements as established by The Joint Commission. This course will increase participants' understanding of code and compliance issues relevant to working in a health care environment. Topics covered in this course include: healthcare industry fundamentals, planning, design and construction process, patient safety, project management principles, and the medical funding stream. After completion of this course, each student should be able to support Medical and SRM project execution as a member of Medical or SRM Project Delivery Teams. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will receive the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Healthcare Construction Certificate and be registered at the ASHE website. The contractor's time will be supplemented by 2 hours of instruction by a Corps of Engineers employee(s). The Performance Work Statement, dated 19 September 2016 is attached. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement for the requirement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 813910. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. This is NOT a Request for Proposal (RFP). It is anticipated that a RFP will be issued approximately 12 days after the release of this announcement. Contracts will be for a 1-year base ordering period with four possible 1-year option periods. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred. If your organization has the potential capacity to perform the contract services found in the Performance Work Statement for this requirement, please provide the following information: 1.
