Page 1 of 1 INTRODUCTION: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Program Contracting Activity Central (PCAC) anticipates soliciting bids and subsequently awarding a single, Firm-Fixed-Price contract for the Design-Bid-Build construction of the GENOMIC LAB ADDITION BUILDING 2 Minor Construction project at the Salt Lake City, UT VA Medical Center (VAMC). PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The general scope of this project consists of building an approximately 13,000 square foot new addition on to the existing A Wing of Building 2 at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. This addition will provide the VA Research Center area for ultra-freezers support offices and lab space. The chosen contractor is to provide all materials and labor to build all aspects of the new addition. Work includes an approximately 13,000 square foot addition to the existing A Wing of Building 2 located in the Project West Wing of Building 2. The project includes a ground floor for the freezer room and receiving of samples. The first floor will provide office and lab space with the receiving area facing project south. The structure will be constructed with the ability for vertical expansion. The scope of this project includes all general construction, alterations, roads, curb, gutters, walks, grading, drainage, landscaping, mechanical, fire protection, technology and electrical work, extensions an alterations to utility systems, elevators, stairwells, rooftop equipment and, any and all necessary removal, modifications, demolition, alterations of existing structures and construction and certain other items to construct the complete project. Evening nighttime, and weekend hours will be required and shall be included in the contractors Base Bid Pricing. ADMINISTRATIVE: The solicitation will be issued as a Request For Proposal (RFP) conducted in accordance with FAR Parts 15, 19, and 36 and will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures listed in the solicitation. The solicitation will be advertised as a total Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. Offers received from other than SDVOSB concerns will not be considered. The applicable NAICS code is 236220 with a size standard of $36.5 million. The solicitation will be issued on or about March 2, 017. The period of performance is approximately 400 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. This notice is not a request for competitive offers. The Magnitude of Construction is expected to be between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. All questions must be submitted in writing to the issuing office via email to donald.marsh2@va.gov.
