- Description
- Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and services necessary to remove existing circuit breakers and remanufacture and re-install the circuit breakers for the Main Distribution Switchgear in Smith Hall. The project scope includes all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision and disposal required to remove, remanufacture and replace rack-out circuit breakers in the 480V Main Distribution Switchgear, at Smith Hall. - (a) The project consists of all work necessary to remove and remanufacture (15) FM-25 600A frame rack-out circuit breaker, (3) FP-50 1600A frame rack-out circuit breakers and (1) 4000A frame rack-out circuit breaker residing in the 4000A Main Distribution Switchgear for Smith Hall. The rack-out circuit breakers are dated around 1972 and are in need of maintenance. It has been noted that the circuit breakers won't trip when manually released and are not likely to charge the springs for breaker closing. (b) Smith Hall is the science building at the USCG Academy. The electrical replacements will directly impact ongoing scientific experiments. Therefore, power outages are to be limited in duration during the replacement process. Replacement work is to take place during weekends or during after hour periods and must be completed prior to normal working hours (M-F: 0730-1600). The breakers shall be installed by licensed electricians, those qualified to perform power equipment replacement work and familiar with installing and operating draw-out circuit breakers. Period of Performance: Breaker installation shall take place during off-hours and weekends so as not to disturb class work, labs and research. Estimated period of performance is a total of 19 weeks (including submittal time, lead time and install time), and is based on removal and installation of 5 breakers per visit with an approximate lead time of 3 weeks for breaker refurnishing. All work shall be completed no later than 21 April 2017.
