- FMTV Armor Protection - B-Kit Market Survey (PDF) MARKET SURVEY Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) - ARMOR PROTECTION KITS PREFACE: This is a United States (U.S.) Army Market Survey for the production of FMTV 58-gallon and 78-gallon B-Kits and Underbody Improvement Kits (UIK). This Protection Kit production effort may produce B-Kits and UIKs utilizing the following National Stock Numbers (NSN) and Part Numbers: NSN 2540-01-602-9659: FMTV 58 gallon B-Kit (opaque and transparent armor package with 58-gallon (FTFS)) NSN 2910-01-578-7417, packed 4 each B-Kits, in ISO container (P/N 57K6420-001). NSN 2540-01-602-9660: FMTV 78 gallon B-Kit (opaque and transparent armor package with 78-Gallon FTFS) NSN 2910-01-578-9918, packed 4 each B-kits, in ISO container (P/N 57K6420-002). NSN 2540-01-552-7805: FMTV 58 gallon B-Kit (opaque and transparent armor package with 58-Gallon FTFS) NSN 2910-01-578-7417, packed 1 each B-Kit, In Accordance With (IAW) the Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) for LTAS B-Kits. NSN 2540-01-576-3447: FMTV 78 gallon B-Kit (opaque and transparent armor package with 78-Gallon FTFS) NSN 2910-01-578-9918, packed 1 each B-Kit, IAW the SPI for LTAS B-Kits. 57K6427: 1 each, Underbody Armor Kit, known as the UIK, consists of 57K6427 (Underbody Armor Kit) and 57K6430 (Lift Cylinders and Mounting Kit). The Underbody Armor Kit consists of armor panels, blast seats, reinforced cab doors, and the required hardware to install the kit on the existing cab and chassis. The Lift Cylinders and Mounting Kit consists of longer rear lift cylinders to assist in lifting the cab with the added weight of the Underbody Armor Kit. 57K6428: 1 each, Underbody Counterweight Kit includes steel plates and the required hardware to support installation of the Underbody Counterweight Kit. The Underbody Counterweight Kit is only required for installation on the FMTV M1078 Cargo Truck. OBJECTIVES: Product Director, Medium Tactical Vehicles (PD MTV) is conducting a Market Survey to determine if companies are capable to produce and deliver FMTV Armor Protection Kit requirements. INTENT: Armor Kits The United States Government is pursuing the possible procurement of FMTV Armor Protection Kits. Contractors shall build the Protection Kits to the Government furnished Production Level Technical Data Packages (TDP), as defined in MIL-STD-31000A Section 5.3.1.3. The Protection Kits shall fit each FMTV armor capable variant. The manufacturing of the armor kits shall include cutting, drilling, and finishing of armor plates, welding, procurement of commercial components, subsystem assembly, painting, ballistic and weld coupon certifications, quality verifications, and packaging. DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM: A B-Kit consists of two crates, one with transparent and opaque armor panels, and one with a Fuel Tank Fire Suppression Kit (FTFS). The B-Kits are built to either a 58-gallon or a 78-gallon configuration. The size of the B-Kit is dependent upon the size of the fuel tank on the MTV variant. The Contractor either shall pack the B-Kits in a quantity of four in an ISO container or packed in a quantity of one in accordance with the Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). An Underbody Improvement Kit consists of two separate kits as follows: Underbody Armor Kit (57K6427) and the Lift Cylinders and Mounting Kit (57K6430). An additional third kit is only applicable to the M1078 LMTV Cargo variants that is an Underbody Counterweight Kit (57K6428). The Underbody Armor Kit consists of armor panels, blast mats, blast seats, reinforced cab doors and the bracketry/hardware to install this kit to the existing cab and chassis. The Lift Cylinders and Mounting Kit consists of longer rear lift cylinders to assist in lifting the cab with the added weight of the Underbody Armor Kit. The Underbody Counterweight Kit is includes steel plates, brackets and hardware to attach to the frame assembly of the LMTV M1078 Cargo Truck that provides stability to the truck with the addition of the Underbody Armor Kit and Lift Cylinders and Mounting Kit.
