- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors capable of providing an optical profilometer system to support metrology needs in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) user facility. The system will be installed in a multi-user class 100 clean room facility and be made available as a shared resource to researchers from industry, academia, NIST, and other government agencies. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed for a profilometer that can meet NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least three qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. 1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The vendor shall provide an optical profilometer: • capable of less than 0.1 nm vertical resolution • RMS repeatability of less than 0.01 nm • Lateral resolution of less than 400 nm 2. INSTALLATION AND TRAINING The vendor shall be responsible for the full installation and commissioning of the optical profilometer. Installation shall be in a class 100 clean room environment. The vendor shall be responsible for training staff members on the use of the optical profilometer once installation has been completed. 3. WARRANTY The vendor shall provide a minimum 12-month warranty for the optical profilometer. The warranty period shall start once installation has been completed and shall fully cover all parts and components of the system including all software and hardware. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 334516, as those domestic sources having 1,000 employees or less. Please include your company's size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. Companies that provide optical profilometers are requested to email a detailed report describing their products to forest.crumpler@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities.
