Description
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratoru is operating by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions. This is not a Request for Quote. Vendors interested in being considered as a potential source should identify themselves as an "interested party" via the FBO portal. Do not contact the Subcontract Administrator. SLAC seeks sources capable of providing the following: Controls Engineering - Systems Development and Implementation The Electronics Engineering Division (EED) at SLAC is seeking one or more Controls Engineering Subcontractors to perform various engineering tasks. The specific quantity of engineers can vary due to SLAC funding profiles and project requirements. This position will develop, upgrade, configure, maintain, and commission distributed software control, data acquisition, and monitoring systems for accelerators such as LCLS, LCLS II, FACET, SPEAR and other experimental or research facilities at SLAC. The Subcontractor will work closely with other SLAC employees to learn specific control implementations, applications, and best practices, while maintaining and enhancing subsystems assigned. This position requires deep expertise with the EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) and its associated tools and methods. This position has a multi-disciplinary role, teaming with software, hardware, project and physics engineers and will have continuous interaction with internal partners comprised mainly of accelerator physicists and operators. Scope of Work for each on-site Subcontractor Specific subcontract responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties: • Maintain and improve the existing EPICS control systems for SLAC facilities such as LCLS I, FACET, XTA, ASTA. • Development of EPICS base extensions in EPICS 7 • Development and integration of new EPICS control systems, including but not limited to LCLS II. • New software development, such as EPICS device support, Linux drivers, etc. • Implementation of FPGA-based systems, including real time data acquisition, data management and control systems. • Design of SIL rated devices for safety systems implementations. • Responsible for project management in all aspects of project scope, cost, schedule, documentation and reporting. • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics analysis and provide corrective active proactively. • Interface effectively with operations, accelerator physicists, and program managers. • Responsiblities may include occasional 24/7 support for the subsystems assigned. • Work collaboratively with team members and management. • Provide weekly written status reports. • Each subcontractor will be responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards of SLAC and EED.
