- DESCRIPTION: The US Army Contracting Command-New Jersey on behalf of the Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS) is seeking sources for the production of 120mm mortar weapon ammunition to include High Explosive (HE), White Phosphorous (WP) Smoke, Illumination (ILLUM) and High Explosive-Practice (HE-PRAC). SPECIFICATION: Each of the 120mm mortar rounds must be able to achieve a range of at least 8700m with the maximum charge conditioned to 70°F (21°C) under standard Meteorological (MET) data conditions. In addition all tactical rounds must be able to engage targets at indirect fire ranges from 250 to 8700 meters. The ammunition must also be fully compatible with and capable of being fired in Patria's SANG-NEMO Weapon System. The ammunition shall incorporate a stub case which is able to interface with the SANG-NEMO slide block breech / firing mechanism. The ammunition must also incorporate a seven-charge propulsion system that is compatible with the SANG-NEMO fire control system / software and firing solutions. The 120mm mortar ammunition shall also be capable of meeting the following indirect fire dispersion requirements when fired from the SANG-NEMO weapon system: Range Probable Error (PEr) of no greater than 30 meters or 1.5% of range and a Deflection Probable Error (PEd) of no greater than 20 meters or 1% of range. The 120mm mortar ammunition shall also be capable of meeting an accuracy requirement of vertical circular error probable (CEP) of 3 mils at all ranges up to 1000 meters when direct fired from the SANG-NEMO weapon system. The maximum operating pressure (MOP) and extreme service condition pressure (ESCP) limits of the 120mm mortar ammunition shall be 206 MPa and 191 MPa, respectively. Finally, the rounds shall be capable of being transported / stored in the SANG-LAV-M(S)A1 ammunition racks and must properly operate / function in temperature environments from -2 degrees F to +145 degrees F. PLANNED ACQUISITION: The planned acquisition is for a FY17 procurement under an existing Non Standard Ammunition Basic Ordering Agreement for quantities up to 864 for the 120mm HE and up to 29 each of the 120mm WP Smoke, ILLUM and HE PRAC ammunition.
