- N00164-17-S-NB55 - REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)/SOURCES SOUGHT - WALK-THROUGH METAL DETECTOR (WTMD) - FSC 6350 - NAICS 561621 Issued Date: 02 MAR 2017 - Closing Date: 16 MAR 2017 - 2:00 PM EASTERN MARKET SURVEY: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division located at the Naval Support Activity, Crane, IN is issuing this RFI/sources sought announcement as part of market research for Walk-Through Metal Detectors, training, and spare parts. The Walk-Through Metal Detector (WTMD) will be for indoor, outdoor and unsheltered operation. Terrorism threats exist which endanger the assets and personnel of the U.S. Navy. Currently WTMD screening is necessary at entry control points of high value assets to eliminate threats, such as handguns and knives with blades. The WTMD will determine the presence of metal tools and equipment entering and leaving these Naval assets. This effort is underway to gauge potential interest, establish the current state of industry, and assist in specification refinement and validation. The Government is posting the preliminary draft Performance Specification and Statement of Work for review to receive responses and questions from potential sources to further evaluate potential sources capabilities and ensure that adequate competition is achieved as a result of the subsequent solicitation. Potential sources are requested to provide information on a potential solution based on the ability to meet the preliminary draft documents (attached). If a potential solution meets some requirements but does not meet others, please highlight and address what can and cannot be reasonably met. For those requirements that cannot be met, please describe the reason for the shortfall in detail. It is further requested that estimated delivery timelines be provided. Sources are requested to provide information on thresholds and objectives that drive delivery timelines and cost. Sources are requested to provide estimated production lead times, to include number of systems that could be reasonably delivered per month. The Government highly encourages potential sources to provide a response to the attached documents. The Government intends to use the information provided to refine the Government requirements. All interested parties are encouraged to submit company and product literature, a white paper, and/or other pertinent information, preferably in the form of a "Quad Chart". This white paper should not exceed 3 pages per item, with an executive summary (short paragraph) on the effort, a technical description of the effort, a preliminary schedule, identification of risks, current Technology Readiness Level (TRL), and production quantity breaks for the Government(s) consideration no later than 16 MAR 2017.
