Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source The United States Air Force (USAF), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Advanced Systems and Development Directorate (SMC/AD) intends to award a sole source contract to Science and Technology Application (STA) to continue the development of an original Air Force Research Laboratory (ARFL) 20,000-lb thrust LOX/Jet-A kerosene liquid rocket engine. The AFRL 20,000-lb thrust engine was originally designed to provide the first and second stage propulsion system for the Sprite Small Launch Vehicle (SLV). The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 and as required by FAR 6.303-2(b)(4).
