Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has a wide variety of flood-reduction management dams, navigation dams and levees that require the use advanced analytical techniques that would allow for the simulation of Tainter gate and structural components. SAP2000 is able to generate wind, wave, bridge, and seismic loads with comprehensive automatic steel and concrete design code checks per US, Canadian and international design standards. It is also capable of providing 3D object based graphical modeling with a wide variety of analysis and design options. With the Advanced license, RMC structural engineers and analysts will be able to perform step-by-step large deformation analysis, Eigen and Ritz analyses based on stiffness of nonlinear cases, catenary cable analysis, material nonlinear analysis with fiber hinges, multi-layered nonlinear shell element, buckling analysis, progressive collapse analysis, energy methods for drift control, velocity-dependent dampers, base isolators, support plasticity and nonlinear segmental construction analysis. Currently, several USACE districts use SAP2000 for these advanced structural analyses and will provide uniformity across USACE when evaluating risk driving failure modes. Based on the Market Research, the CSI SAP2000 software is the only software available which will meet USACE standard for providing advanced structural element analyses. This particular site license is only available through Computers & Structures Incorporated (CSI), as such only one source reasonably available. Efforts to obtain competition is not feasible based on the requirement being sole sourced to the producer, CSI.
