- Description
- AGV SOURCES SOUGHT USPS SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE FOR AUTOMATIC GUIDED VEHICLES The United States Postal Service (USPS) Network Operations Engineering group, located in Merrifield, VA is seeking sources for Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV's), also known as Robotic Vehicles, for feasibility of installation and subsequent possible deployment in Postal mail processing facilities. The USPS believes AGV's can greatly enhance mail processing operations by establishing consistent motorized industrial vehicle movement which will also make for a safer working environment. USPS interest is primarily in tugger (tractor) and forked pallet type vehicles. USPS facilities are well established so it is imperative that AGV guidance and systems components minimize infrastructure changes to mail processing plants. Suppliers' products should require only minimal guidance aides such that no building changes are required and vehicle routes can be created or re-created by USPS personnel in less than a day. Suppliers must have capabilities to evaluate USPS facilities, propose vehicle configurations and support use and maintenance. The USPS intends to provide a briefing to interested parties on postal systems and potential AGV applications at a facility in the Washington DC. Area. This will be scheduled in early April 2017. Vehicles and systems must be fully compliant with American National Standards Institute Industrial Truck Standards Development Foundation ANSI/ITSDF B56.5 and as applicable vehicles should be compliant with OSHA 29CFR1910.178 and NFPA 505. Tugger vehicles must be capable of towing a 5000 lb. load. Pallet vehicles must be able to transport 2200 lb. pallets. Vehicles will be powered using industry standard Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) batteries. Interested businesses are encouraged to review this Notice, submit product information, and provide capability statements that contain and address the following areas: 1. Company name, and point of contact information to include name, title, phone number, and email address. 2. Experience: Provide a list of recent relevant contracts describing nature of work, size, and complexity. 3. Detail products, capabilities and how vehicle routs are created and maintained.
