Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District requires a contractor to investigate and evaluate the presence and depth of Freeze-Thaw damage within two hydraulic concrete lock structures along the Mississippi River within the St. Paul District. This will provide a better understanding of the extent and depth of freeze-thaw damage, and guide future repair work. Contractor shall establish a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) plan, utilizing a combination of the following NDT methods: Ultrasonic Shear-Wave Tomography (or ‘MIRA'), Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (SASW), and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Tests will be performed at two locations on each lock (four locations total). NDT methods shall be used to create distressed models of concrete condition. Contractor shall establish a supplemental testing plan to provide additional information and collect samples from the structure for laboratory testing and analysis. Eight concrete core samples shall be extracted from each test site (32 total). Lab testing shall include petrographic analysis (including analysis off hardened air content), compressive strength testing, and analysis to determine freeze-thaw damage. Offerors must include summaries of at least three previous projects of a related nature, to be used in determining level of experience and capability. Testing Locations will be at: Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam - Minneapolis, MN Lock and Dam No. 5 - Minnesota City, MN
