- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with Internet Systems Corporation, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Internet Systems Consortium; 950 Charter St.; Redwood City, CA 94063 for a firm fixed price purchase order for 12-months renewal of maintenance and technical support for Internet Systems Consortium BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) Software. Maintenance and technical support consist of subscriptions to updates, upgrades, fixes and patches 24/7/365 via email, internet and telephone technical support. The Division of Client Server Infrastructure (DCSI) within The Office of Hardware Engineering (OHE) uses Internet Systems Consortium BIND software for translation between domain names and Internet addresses. BIND is the most widely used Domain Name System (DNS) software on the Internet. It provides a robust and stable platform on top of which organizations can build distributing computing systems with the knowledge that those systems are fully compliant with published DNS standards. BIND is open-source software. This software is proprietary. Only Internet Systems Consortium has access to the source code necessary to provide the required maintenance subscription, which is comprised of updates, upgrades, fixes and telephone support. There are no authorized resellers for BIND Software. The authority for this acquisition is set forth in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) "Soliciting from a Single Source." Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete the requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All questions and submissions in response to this notice must be submitted electronically via email to Stephanie.L.Harrison@ssa.gov by 12:00pm EST, Tuesday March 28, 2017. No telephone calls regarding this matter will be accepted or returned.
