- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Alaska Science Center, Anchorage, AK has a requirement for a portable, handheld X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (pXRF) used to quantify and classify the chemical composition of rocks and minerals. Battery operated, handheld form factor (weight <5 lbs) X-ray source (generator) with adjustable voltage (kV) and current ( µA) settings Air, helium or vacuum beam path options Pressure ¿ temperature compensation Detector with element range of sodium (Na) to uranium (U) or higher Filter kit Filter changer Manual insertion filter slot for user-made filters Internal camera Daylight-visible LCD or LED display PC software for data reduction, calculation and calibration Transport case and spare batteries Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity Operational modes for spectra measurement and calibration (testing) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; solicitation number G17PS00343 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in accordance with Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-89, effective 19 Jan 2017. The Government anticipates award of a commercial, firm-fixed price type purchase order. All firms must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database at www.sam.gov, to be considered at award.
