- Sole source acquisition of Developing advanced molecular detection methods for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Center for Global Health contemplates award of a firm-fixed-price sole source purchase order to Georgia Institute of Technology for developing advanced molecular detection methods for molecular surveillance of malaria drug resistance. Georgia Tech Genomics of Infectious Diseases Laboratory is the only laboratory who can provide this service. Their research team has extensive experience in the field of bioinformatics and genomics data analysis. The team has extensive experience in dealing with large protozoan and microbial genome datasets, and in developing custom python bioinformatics pipelines for variant calling using alignment free (i.e. k-mer based) methods. Specifically, this laboratory team has experience in the python programming language as well as a proficiency in understanding SQL frameworks. This contract is a logical follow-on to work previously performed by the Georgia Tech Genomics of Infectious Disease Laboratory research team. This acquisition will use sole source simplified procedures in accordance with FAR 13.106(b)(1). This requirement is not set aside for small businesses. CDC is not requesting competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should indicate their interest in writing and submit a capability statement demonstrating their ability to meet this requirement no later than 5:00 PM EST on March 29, 2017. Determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will assume all financial costs for preparing a response to this notice. The U.S. Government assumes no financial obligation for the preparation and distribution of prepared responses.
