- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Alaska Volcano Observatory, Anchorage, Alaska has a requirement for a firm fixed price type, 5 year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to purchase batteries,3 volt, 12 VDC power systems with 1200 AH of supply, air-alkaline technology to generate a high power, light weight and dependable power source. These primary cells require no charging and are used to provide backup power to solar powered systems and to fully power tactical geophysical monitoring for short term responses to volcanic activity. These batteries will provide power at remote monitoring volcano sites with extreme range of temperature and other environmental conditions This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6 and 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; solicitation number G17PS00356 is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ). The solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in accordance with Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-95, effective 19 Jan. 2017. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 335912 - Primary Battery Manufacturing, and the associated size standards in number of employees: 1000.
