- Description
- In September of 2008 a contract (W912DQ-08-P-0220), was awarded to SpecPro Technical Services, for the turn key installation of the furniture and workstations in the Kansas City District offices. This contractor used a local sub-contracting firm (Spaces Inc.) to provide the work stations for this project. Spaces Inc. is only regional firm for Knoll the manufacture that builds the current cubicles in use at the Kansas City location. In 2016 USACE Management and their employees were looking to improve their work environment. The 5th and 6th floors of the Kansas City District had office cubicles in high traffic areas, common areas, which caused excessive noise in those locations. The high traffic locations were the less desirable cubicles on both floors. A team of employees developed options to combat the noisy locations. The research found the most cost effective way to address the issue, was to add height and width to some of the current cubicle panels. Spaces Inc., was the contractor who has provided all of the current cubicles and has reconfigured workstations on other occasions. Spaces, Inc. is the licensed Knoll furniture dealer for this geographical area. In the past year, both floors have added new employees. There are no additional cubicle parts available within USACE. Thus, an additional requirement for the purchase of the cubicle modifications now exists. United States Army Corps of Engineers has requested to switch out existing panel frames to increase the privacy of employees located on corridors and/or hallways. This work includes the disassembly of existing panel frames, the delivery and installation of new panel frames (increased height). The existing tiles (fabric, metal, and dry erasable), will be reused on the new panel frames as the components are interchangeable. There will be approximately (142) panels that will be received, delivered, and switched out with existing panels. This process will take approximately (1) week of labor, during regular business hours. The existing (old) panels will be disposed of, as there is no ability for reuse at this time. A lead installer will be responsible for maintaining the progress and efficiency of the installation; and will be in contact with our project manager to document and resolve any issues that may occur. After substantial completion of the install, a walkthrough will be scheduled with the end user to notate any damaged or malfunctioning components. These items will be replaced in a timely manner, and estimated ship dates will be provided accordingly. This will be a LTPA lowest-priced technically acceptable procurement.
