Description
This action was awarded as an 8(a) Sole Source Set-Aside under the authority of section 8(a) of the Small Business Act. • The contractor shall remove the existing generator located in the control tower of the Trinidad Dam. • The existing generator shall be used for trade in allowance if possible on the purchase of a new generator. If trade in is not allowed the contractor shall dispose of the generator in a responsible manner. • The new generator shall provide power for all existing imposed loads to include the intent that all required loads could be imposed simultaneously on the generator. 1. The 7.5 hp elevator motor, 208-230-460V 24.1-21.8/10.9 amps, fed by 50 amp breaker. 2. 10 ton crane, 30 amp feed, 460V, 3PH, AC 3. 2 pump motors located in the bottom of the tower, each 25 hp (only one motor can be run at a time. It is impossible to run both motors simultaneously) fed by 70 amp breaker. 4. Sump pump fed by a 15 amp breaker. • The existing concrete pad is 3 feet wide x 8 feet 6 inches long and will need to be demolished and disposed of. The new concrete pad shall accommodate the new generator with 12 inches of pad extending beyond the skids on all sides. The pad shall be 6 inches deep with #3 bars at 6 inches on center spacing. Four (4) corner bars shall be used (one (1) bar per corner) at the formed corners. The contractor shall size the width and length of the pad to include the 12 inches extending beyond the skids. The contractor shall be responsible for any inserts required for generator mounting that need to be placed in the slab before concrete placement. The concrete shall cure a minimum of 7 days before the generator is placed on the new pad. The concrete used for the new generator pad shall be high/early strength 5000 psi. After concrete placement the new concrete pad shall be cured using clear plastic membrane. • The transfer switch is new, however, three - (3), 1 aught wires need to be changed to 4 aught wires or made compatible with NEC. See photo. • The contractor's design, analysis, and determinations shall be in accordance with the National Electric Code. • The contractor shall provide 3 complete drawings of his work as installed in the control tower. • The existing exhaust system piping shall be retro fitted and used for the new generator, if possible. The base price shall include re-using existing exhaust piping. An alternate price shall be given if a 4 inch diameter exhaust is required. The intake "hood" shown in the photo is 4 feet wide x 4 feet six inches tall and can be re-used. • This shall be a turn-key project with the contractor providing startup training to the Trinidad maintenance workers on use and up-keep. • The elevated fuel tank and fuel lines shall be removed and a new 50 20 gallon double wall fuel tank shall be installed on the slab next to the generator with a new automatic pump assembly that supplies fuel to the new day tank from the existing tank under the bridge. The existing fuel line from the tank under the bridge shall be intercepted approximately under the existing day fuel tank mounted on the wall as shown in the photo. A new line from the point of interception to the new day fuel tank shall be installed which shall be approximately 10 lf. The replacement generator shall meet the specifications shown below.
