- Description
- Drawings and other related information The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that can provide a Cryostat Isolation System to support nanoscale science research in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) user facility. NIST has a requirement for a Cryostat Isolation System to vibrational isolate a dilution refrigerator System to support scanning probe nanoscale science research at cryogenic temperatures in the CNST user facility. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, and specifications developed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order for a Cryostat Isolation System. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The Cryostat Isolation System shall meet the following minimum requirements. Minimum Specifications for Cryostat Isolation System Isolation Concept: Must use a combination of pendulum isolation for horizontal motion, and thin wall diaphragm isolators for vertical isolation, see sketches in document file cryostat isolation system concept.pdf. Specifications: 1.Vertical natural frequencies must be less than 3 Hz, and horizontal less than 1 Hz, with 40 dB isolation per decade above natural frequencies 2.System must have adjustable magnetic eddy current dampers 3.System must have a 3 point kinematic mounting system so the system returns to the sample location in down position to with +- 0.005" 4.System must have self-leveling high accuracy mechanical-pneumatic valves with +- 60 micron leveling accuracy. 5.Cryostat mass estimated at 2000 lbs, total payload cryostat plus isolation system estimated at 3000 lbs. System must have compressed air requirement of less than 80 psi. 6.Maximum OD of isolation system is 38.2" to fit inside existing pit in NIST A1 inertia slab 7.Dewar OD is 32.0". Dewar height, bottom flange to top flange is 64.6". NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 334516, as those domestic sources having 500 employees or less. Please include your company's size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. Companies are requested to email a detailed report describing their abilities to forest.crumpler@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include achievable specifications, pricing, and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the system components for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the system components, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to forest.crumpler@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
