- Description
- The Northern Region of the Forest Service anticipates awarding a contract for reconditioning and resurfacing on Fuller Pass Road #3114. Work on the road shall include: Road reconditioning, clearing, reestablishing road drainage, culvert cleaning, culvert replacement and surfacing the road with crushed aggregate. The project is located on the Sioux Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest. The Site is approximately 100 miles north of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, 25 miles north of Buffalo, South Dakota, and 30 miles south of Bowman, North Dakota. The Site can be accessed by turning west off of U.S. Highway 85 onto the Cox Road (County Road #733) and then turning South off the Cox Road onto Fuller Pass Road #3114. Government estimates the magnitude of the project to be between $250,000 and $500,000. Roads in the project area may contain Erionite, a zeolite mineral that, in its fibrous form, may have properties similar to asbestos. Erionite may pose health risks to those who breathe in the fibers. The Contractor shall take measures to mitigate the risk of airborne exposure from sediment and Erionite. All aggregate imported to the site shall be tested by the Contractor and shall be non-detect for Erionite by the Polar Light Microscopy (PLM) method. Contractor shall submit test results showing pit location, name, and lab test results before any aggregate is imported to the site. The requirement for HAZWOPER certifications has been removed from this project. Contractors do NOT need HAZWOPER training/certification to work on this project.
