- THIS IS A NOTICE ONLY Update: May 2, 2017 The Department of Homeland Security is in the process of completing Phase 1 of the design-build procedures for several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico. Proposals for the concrete wall were due from potential offerors on April 4, 2017 and low hundreds of submittals were received. Technical evaluations are currently ongoing. Vendors will be notified on or after May 8, 2017 if they have been selected to participate in Phase II of this design-build process. Proposals for Phase II are tentatively projected to be due on or after May 30, 2017-the actual date will be provided in the instructions to bidders down-selected after Phase 1. Site visits for down-selected bidders will be planned for mid-May and details on these visits will be also be provided in the instructions for the Phase II proposals. The Government reiterates that this initial contract action and task order award is for the construction of prototypes only, and the Government has allocated appropriate budget for that limited purpose. The prototypes will advise the design of potential walls that could be considered for actual construction in the future. Any such future construction will require additional contract or task order action, as well as the availability of budget for that construction.
