- Description
- The U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit No. 6 (NAMRU-6) in Peru, in partnership with the Malaria Vaccine Program at the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), Silver Spring, MD is evaluating as Minimum requirement include a eukaryotic expression system capable of producing proteins with correct folding, post-translational modification and high yields (milligram amounts) with little endotoxin contamination. Additionally, we require an expression system which is highly efficient to express Plasmodium genes which are rich in adenine and thymidine base pairs. The proteins produced should be able to be used in animal models for vaccine evaluation purposes. Background: wheat germ system allows a higher quality of protein synthesis in a wider temperature range. Carrying out expressions at a different temperature range allows the production of a wider protein spectrum. On the other hand, this wheat germ expression system has no codon preference so it is highly efficient for expressing Plasmodium genes which codon usage is unique. Furthermore, for many proteins, the system is more cost-effective than insect or mammalian cell expression systems, as it requires no tissue culture facilities. General Requirements : Item: - NTP mix - SP6 RNA Polymerase + RNase inhibitor - 5x Transcription Buffer LM - WEORI 7240G - WEPRO 7240H - 40x SUBAMIX SGC (4x12.5ml) If capable sources are not identified through this notice, then NAMRU 6 intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(i) to CELL FREE SCIENCES Co. Ltd. This pre-solicitation is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for the requirement.
