Description
1. Will we be allowed to connect to the adjacent fire hydrant as a source of running water during the project?/Is there fire hydrant access for water? The fire hydrant will not be available for this project. 2. Will we be allowed to close the immediately adjacent sidewalk during the project? The side walk on the island can be closed during the project. 3. Are there accessible documents especially site plans, engineering drawings, diagrams. specifications, etc which we could review to be clear about and confirm our assessments of the sculpture's attachment / anchoring on the site, and/or about the sculpture's structure? No site or installation drawings are available. 4. Will we be allowed to take the sculpture apart at its bolted connections (not its welded connections) and transport resulting parts to a remote facility where cleaning and refinishing could be done to a higher standard than may be possible refinishing onsite? Yes, partial disassembly would be considered as one approach to this best value procurement. 5. What is the due date for the project proposal and quotation solicited for 17-005488 in your combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services? Refer to fbo.gov 6. Have surfaces been tested for existing lead based coatings? The foundry has confirmed the original coating contained no lead. 7. Is more than one price acceptable for this project? There are various methods as to how the steel sculpture can be preserved. Different methods and/or different coating system choices mean different prices. It is entirely up to the owner as to how this can be done, and there are at least two methods possible. Can we provide more than one price? Please provide your single best proposal to meet the requirements. 8. Has the NIH completed an adhesion test on the existing coating? No.
