- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. The Department of Veterans Affairs is in the process of determining the acquisition strategy for MRI Scanning Research service for VA Palo Alto Health Care System with location in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore CA. Please note that this Request for Information (RFI) is for information only and does not constitute a solicitation for competitive bids/proposals and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet the requirement are invited to submit information describing their capability to provide the required services. OVERVIEW: A total of 228 peak hours of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan time is needed to fulfill the main research study objective to image neural circuits for the VA sponsored project entitled, Neural Circuits Underlying Alcohol Use Disorder in Men and Women Veterans, Principal Investigator Dr. Claudia Padula. An MRI technician is not required, as VA study personnel have been adequately trained on operating the machine. The C&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required. The amount of scan time is 228 hours of total peak hours over a five-year period. The scans take 120 minutes for each person. In the first year there will be up to 24 scans that require 48 hours of scan time. In option year 2, there will be 48 scan hours required. In option year 3, there will be 46 scan hours required. In option year 4, there will be 44 scan hours required. In option year 5, there will be 42 scan hours required. We want to secure a base year and four option years for this contract Contractor scan times should be available during regular daytime hours during the week Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM and must be located within a 4-mile radius from the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The information received as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the VA not to open the requirement to open competition, based on responses to this sources sought synopsis is solely within the discretion of the VA. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this sources sought synopsis.
