BACKGROUND In assessing the Microbiology lab s needs, the Director of Microbiology Lab has determined that a Nanosphere Verigene System is much needed in the Microbiology Lab. The Verigene System is a simple-to-use, highly accurate multiplex molecular diagnostic platform that rapidly detects infectious pathogens and drug resistance markers, enabling clinicians to deliver timely and targeted therapy for some of the most complex, costly and deadly infectious diseases. Through delivery of this time-critical information, Verigene is powering faster patient treatment decisions in the top healthcare centers, leading to reduced length of stay, improved patient outcomes, lower costs, optimized antibiotic therapy and potentially, reduced spread of antibiotic resistance. QUANTITY Verigene Reader: 2 Verigene Processor SP: 8 E. SPECIFICATIONS / SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS MEDVAMC would like to acquire a new Nanosphere Verigene System with the following specifications: 1. The Verigene Processor SP combines automated nucleic acid extraction, purification, and hybridization in each independent module for sample-to-result test processing. 2. The Verigene Test Cartridges can be run on demand without the need for batching, specially trained personnel, or specialized facilities. 3. The Verigene Reader manages sample information, reads results from processed cartridges and allows for results printing, internal data storage and LIS connectivity without the use of an external PC. 4.
