DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT Project Description slc30a3-cre expressing mouse Purpose and Objectives The Biobehavioral Imaging and Molecular Neuropsychopharmacology Unit at NIDA studies the role of zinc in neurobiology. Transgenic mice can serve as powerful tools for specific targeting of zinc neurons in the brain which currently cannot be targeted with other methods. The Biobehavioral Imaging and Molecular Neuropsychopharmacology Unit at NIDA is in need of a unique transgenic mouse model for selective targeting of zinc containing neurons. The specific transgenic mouse model will need to express cre recombinase in slc30a3 cells and also offer the ability for conditional deletion of slc30a3.
