Description
On or about 25 May 2017, the Government intends to issue a solicitation for Installation Spillway Gate Hoist Wire Ropes at Big Bend Dam in South Dakota. The solicitation will close thirty days after being issued. The solicitation will be restricted to small businesses. Project Description: The purpose of this project is to replace the existing wire rope on the spillway gate hoists at Big Bend Dam, Fort Thompson, South Dakota. The new wire rope will be provided to the Contractor as Government Furnished Equipment. There are a total of eight gates on the spillway structure at Big Bend. Each gate has two sheave/rope assemblies, and each assembly consists of five ropes and sheaves equaling a total of 80 individual wire ropes. One wire rope was replaced under a previous contract, leaving a total of 79 ropes to be replaced under this contract. The sheave rope assemblies on the spillway at Big Bend Dam are unique in design as compared to other dam sites in the Omaha District. Previous on-site attempts to disassemble the sheave discs from the drum assembly without raising the assembly off the bearing pedestal have proved to be difficult. The contractor may propose to remove the bundles and disassemble the discs offsite, perform the disassembly on-site or propose a combination of the two. The Contractor will be responsible for replacement of any broken or damaged discs during the disassembly/ reassembly process. Big Bend dam does not currently own any spare discs. Estimated magnitude of this project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The Primary North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this solicitation is 237990, Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction, with a size standard for Small Business of $36.5M. Offerors: Please be advised that an online registration requirement in System for Award Management (SAM) database http://www.sam.gov/ exists and directed solicitation provisions concerning electronic annual Representations and Certifications on SAM.
