Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center, Auke Bay Laboratories has a requirement for mail and freight services between Sitka, Alaska and Little Port Walter, Alaska (Baranof Island). The Little Port Walter (LPW) research station is the primary field research facility of the Auke Bay Laboratory and is located 110 miles south of Juneau, Alaska, near the southeastern tip of Baranof Island. Little Port Walter is about 6.1 miles North of Port Armstrong, Alaska, and 9.3 miles North of Port Alexander, Alaska. LPW is the oldest year-round biological research station in Alaska and has been host to a wide variety of fisheries research projects since 1934. The station is on U.S. Forest Service land in the Tongass National Forest and is accessible only by boat or seaplane. Personnel stationed at LPW range from a mid-winter low of 2 to a summer time high of 25 to 30 researchers and support staff, depending on the requirements of the various experiments under way. See attached Statement of Need for more information. All interested concerns must submit a quotation and documentation demonstrating the qualifications to provide services as described above within 10 days of the publication date of this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. A firm-fixed order is anticipated to be issued in immediately. All responses must be in writing and delivery to fax number (907)789-6004 attention to Heather Mahle, emailed to heather.mahle@noaa.gov, or provided to the address indicated in the solicitation. Faxed or Emailed Correspondence or Response to Solicitation should reference solicitation # ABL-17101, in the Subject line to ensure it is received successfully. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $150,000.00. The following provisions and clauses shall apply to this solicitation and resultant award.
