- Description
- Project consists of repairs to (2) barracks facilities within the Challenge Work Center. Repairs include the supply and installation of accessible showers, water damage repairs in the bathroom, and the supply and installation of new kitchen cabinets, as well as any incidental plumbing and carpentry work associated with those replacements. Work in the individual residences is broken down in the following sections: Both residences 1032 and 1035 require a shower replacement. The existing bathtub in both restrooms will be replaced with a new accessible shower complying with the Architectural Barriers Act. A new showerhead and controls will need to be installed in addition to grab bars, a foldable shower seat, a new shower floor threshold, a new one piece shower enclosure, and all incidental waterproofing and finish work. Plumbing may also need to be adjusted to connect to the new showerhead location. No grab bars shall be placed above the folding shower seat and the new shower enclosures shall not obstruct controls, faucets, or the shower spray unit. The wall dividing the existing bathtub and toilet in the 1035 bathroom shall be reconstructed to accommodate the accessible shower enclosure. Work in residence 1035 will also require replacing the cabinets in the kitchen, since mold was found under the kitchen sink. Replacement of new cabinets will also include replacement of countertop, splash guards, sink, faucet, and all incidental waterproofing and finish work.
