- DISCLAIMER This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) NOTICE for Market Research ONLY. The information collected through this process is considered to be market research as described by FAR 2.101 and in accordance with FAR 10.002. NO AWARD shall be made from this RFI. Responses in any form are not offers and the Government is under no obligation to award a contract as a result of this announcement. In addition, vendors responding to this RFI shall bear all risks and expenses of any resources used to provide the requested information. The submission of capability information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary. INTRODUCTION The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is issuing this RFI to gather information from private sector entities, educational institutions and non-profit organizations, and other interested parties relating to Ka-Band Satellite communications. The FBI relies on the use of Ka-band satellite communications to provide field connectivity for secure voice and data communications from deployed locations. BACKGROUND This Request for Information (RFI) is being issued on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the purpose of market research. The need for bandwidth in the Ka-band frequency range is to be used as a medium for the transmission/reception of voice and data services. SCOPE OF SERVICES The satellite bandwidth provider must be able to meet the following service support requirements: 1. The Ka-band services must be compatible with the existing FBI owned Surfbeam Pro Portable 75cm satellite terminals. 2. Technical support is required 24/7/365 to assist FBI personnel with maintenance and trouble-shooting procedures. 3. Services shall cover two (2) Surfbeam Pro Portable 75cm Terminals throughout the Continental United States (CONUS), Alaska, Hawaii, and United States territories located in the Caribbean Sea. 4. The vendor shall provide the FBI with thirty (30) day written notification of any infrastructure changes that will affect FBI communication services. 5. The vendor shall not discuss, advertise, or allude to the FBI's communications requirements or operating parameters with other customers outside the FBI. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS It is requested that interested businesses submit to the Contracting Officer a brief capabilities package demonstrating ability to meet the FBI's requirements. The documentation shall also include the following: 1. Company information: Name, Mailing Address, Point of Contact, Phone Number, Email, Duns Number, Tax ID Number, and Cage Code 2. Proprietary information, if any, should be kept to a minimum and be clearly marked. 3. Systems for Award Management (SAM) registration and what NAICs codes this requirement should fall under. 4. Business Size Questions regarding this RFI are due by 11:00 am EST, on Friday, May 19, 2017. They should be submitted via e-mail to the Contracting Officer, Nancy Beck at Nancy.beck@ic.fbi.gov. Information packages are due by 11:00 am EST, on Friday, June 2, 2017 and shall be submitted via e-mail to Nancy Beck at Nancy.beck@ic.fbi.gov
