- Q&A Modification 5/16/17 1. Supply man baskets for lifting people: Our operations may involve the use of "Man Basket". We prefer the crane supplier to provide or suggest a suitable man basket for use with the crane. We will consider offers of supplying just the crane; we can purchase the man basket separately if we have to. However, If the manufacturer prohibits the use of a man basket with the crane, please clearly state that in your offer. 2. Man basket not included nor be responsible for any liability or use of man basket after purchase: OSHA does not prohibit "Pick and Carry" operations altogether. A crane may pick and carry or walk loads in accordance with the crane manufacturer's specifications. If the manufacturer prohibits pick and carry operations please state that clearly in your offer. 3. Scope of Work "crane shall meet the following requirements", numbers 1-3 indicate the crane will "travel with the stop log/bulk head gate/penstock gate". "Pick and Carry" operations are Not recommended by the Manufacturer. Unless the Crane has the capability of driving the "lower cab" from the "upper crane operations cab" it is impossible to perform a "Pick and Carry" maneuver: In general you may take exception to any of the requirements in the solicitation. However, please state such exceptions clearly in your offer. Your offer will be evaluated not only on the basis of the requirements, but also in comparison to alternative offers from other vendors.
