Page 1 of 3 SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE, REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THE VA IS NOT SEEKING PRICING OR OFFERS. This Sought Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (Government). The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to identify qualified small business concerns including 8(a), HUBZone or Service-Disabled Veteran-owned business concerns that are interested in and capable of providing the product described herein. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses received nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information submitted. Your responses to the information requested will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method, including whether a set-aside is possible. An organization that is not considered a small business under the applicable NAICS code should not submit a response to this notice. This requirement is assigned North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 331192 (Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees is being considered. As a result of this Sources Sought Notice, the Government may issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ). THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. However, should such a requirement materialize, no basis for claims against Government shall arise as a result of a response to this Sources Sought Notice or the Government s use of such information as either part of our evaluation process or in developing specifications for any subsequent requirement. Responses will be used in market research to determine the market s capability to provide the following: ITEM NO. DESCRIPTION QUANTITY Model 5392 Dual Chamber Temporary Pacemaker 10 EA The Ralph H Johnson VAMC would like to purchase the Medtronic Pacemaker package supports upgrade replacement of the current Pacemakers in house. The temporary external pacemakers Models 5392, Medtronic s complete EPG portfolio and the next generation of temporary external pacemakers for managing bradycardia.   The Dual Chamber Temporary Pacemaker Model 5392 includes easily configurable features, enhanced user interface, and improved low battery indicator. Intend Use: The Medtronic Model 5392 dual chamber temporary pacemaker is intended to be used in conjunction with a cardiac pacing lead system for temporary single or dual chamber pacing in a clinical environment by trained personnel. The temporary pacemaker can be used where short-term demand (synchronous) or asynchronous pacing is indicated for therapeutic, prophylactic, or diagnostic purposes. The temporary pacemaker must be used in an environment where the patient is monitored continuously to ensure that it is operating properly and delivering appropriate therapy to the patient. Contraindications: There are no known contraindications to the use of temporary pacing as a means to control the heart rate. The patient s age and medical condition, however, may dictate the type of temporary pacemaker and lead system used by the physician. Pacing modes which allow sensing in the atrium to trigger a ventricular response are contraindicated in the presence of rapid atrial arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. Atrial pacing is ineffective in the presence of atrial fibrillation or flutter. Single chamber atrial pacing is contraindicated in the presence of AV conduction disorders. Asynchronous pacing is contraindicated in the presence of intrinsic cardiac rhythms. Atrial high-rate burst pacing therapy is intended for use in the atrium only. High-rate burst pacing in the ventricle may result in life-threatening arrhythmias. The temporary pacemaker is MR Unsafe. ----End---- HOW TO SUBMIT A RESPONSE: When responding to this Sources Sought Notice, please provide your Statement of Capability as outlined below and complete the Sources Sought Questionnaire. Do not include Proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information in responses. Provide any additional feedback that you feel is relevant (i.e., problems or any other issues experienced with similar contracts). 1. STATEMENT OF CAPABILITY: Submit a brief description, five (5) pages or less, that demonstrates your company ability to provide Dual Chamber Temporary Pacemaker, Model 5392, manufactured by MEDTRONIC. Include past experience in performing these services to the VA, other Government (Federal or State) agency, or for a private facility. 2. Responses to this Sources Sought Synopsis will not be considered as submission of an offer for future solicitation announcements. All interested parties must respond to future that solicitation announcement separately or in addition to this Sources Sought Notice. Contract award resulting from any future solicitation can only be made to a contractor who is registered in SAM. DISCLAIMER AND IMPORTANT NOTES: This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract or otherwise pay for the information provided in response. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate. Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the organization s qualifications to perform the work. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. After a review of the responses received, an RFQ may be published. However, responses to this notice will not be considered adequate responses to a solicitation(s).
