- Redacted J&A Special Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source: The 2d Contracting Squadron at Barksdale AFB, LA intends to award a Sole Source, Firm Fixed Price Contract to Stratasys under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) & 13.501(a)(1)(iii). Market research was conducted and it has been determined that this is a sole source requirement IAW FAR 6.302-1. Authority: 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Justification: Supplies required are available from only one or a limited number of responsible sources and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Multiple awards will not be considered for this procurement. The 2 MXG requires a Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printer with a large build size (at least 16 in x 14 in x 16 in), at least 0.005 inch accuracy, and the ability to print in ABS, Polycarbonate, Nylon, and ULTEM. The Stratasys Fortus machines are the only 3D printing systems that have the build size, precision, and available materials that is essential for meeting DOD's fabricating requirements for the wide variety of uses. The anticipated award date is after 9-Jun-17. This is NOT a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. No contract award will be made on the basis of this notice. "Notice: Funds are not presently available for this effort. No award will be made under this Special Notice until funds are available. The Government reserves the right to cancel this Special Notice, either before or after the closing date. In the event the Government cancels this special notice, the Government has no obligation to reimburse an offeror for any costs." "The Contracting Officer is the only authorized representative that may obligate funds on behalf of the US Government. Work accomplished under the direction of any other individual is not authorized and is accomplished at the sole liability of the contractor." This notice does not constitute a solicitation document. Requests for such documents will not be considered. However, all information received within (3) days of this publication of this notice will be considered SOLELY for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the direction of the Government. The Government will not pay for information received. The NAICS Code is 333249 and the size standard is 500 employees. Market research was conducted and only one source, Stratasys is able to meet the government's needs.
