- This Market Survey is in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS) Section T3.2.1.2. FAA ™s Surface Surveillance team is planning to host an Industry Day on June 15, 2017 in Washington DC. The purpose of this Industry Day is for the FAA to present challenges being faced with the current technology used to provide surface surveillance information to tower controllers and to seek industry ideas and input regarding methods to overcome these challenges. This Industry Day is a follow-up to Market Survey “ Request for Information/Non-Cooperative Surveillance (NCS) Market Survey Announcement 24935, originally released July 21, 2016. This announcement will be updated to provide additional information to support the facilitation of the Industry Day. PURPOSE/BACKGROUND: The FAA provides airport surface surveillance through both cooperative and non-cooperative surveillance methods. The non-cooperative surveillance equipment is nearing the end of life and will not be maintainable. The FAA intends to collect and assess this information and any additional information regarding capabilities and existing technologies for conducting surface surveillance for the purpose of developing requirements to potentially integrate technologies into existing surface surveillance systems or possibly, fully replacing existing systems. Upon completion of the FAA ™s briefing, interested parties will be provided the opportunity to participate in individual one-on-one meetings to present capability briefs, published price lists and other appropriate marketing materials and brochures during the Industry Day.
