Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI). THIS RFI IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL OR AS AN OBLIGATION ON THE PART OF THE GOVERNMENT TO ACQUIRE ANY FOLLOW-ON ACQUISITIONS. NO ENTITLEMENT TO PAYMENT OF DIRECT OR INDIRECT COSTS OR CHARGES BY THE GOVERNMENT WILL ARISE AS A RESULT OF SUBMISSION OF RESPONSES TO THIS RFI AND GOVERNMENT USE OF SUCH INFORMATION. THIS RFI DOES NOT CONSTITUTE THE SOLICITATION OF PROPOSALS. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. THE NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND (NAVAIR) METROLOGY AND CALIBRATION (METCAL) PROGRAM IS REQUESTING INFORMATION, COMMENTS, AND QUESTIONS REGARDING INTEREST IN A COMMERCIAL OR MODIFIED COMMERCIAL CLASS A LINEAR AMPLIFIER. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS RFI OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. The government's specific interests are as follows: •- Interested companies who may have a single box solution commercially available. When responding to this configuration, please provide, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Part Number (P/N), general product information. •- Interested companies who have an existing single box capable of being modified to meet the specification as listed below. When responding to this configuration, please provide, OEM P/N, general product information on what the baseline model would be. Please forward any comments, questions, and concerns regarding the specification or general interest information to: Robert Megill, Contract Specialist (732) 323-7627 All corporate and proprietary information should be so marked and will be fully protected to the extent allowed. Information should be submitted within 30 days of the publication date of this RFI. Responders to this RFI may be requested to provide additional details/information based on their initial submittals. Questions and submissions may be submitted by email to Robert.Megill@navy.mil. Technical Requirements 1.0 SCOPE 1.1 General. This specification defines the minimum requirements for an amplifier. It is intended to be used by Navy personnel in shipboard and shore-based laboratories. The amplifier will be used to calibrate various test instruments such as noise figure meters, attenuators, power sensors, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and test sets. 2.0 REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Electrical Power Sources. The amplifier shall operate within specifications from a nominal AC power source of 120 Vrms at 50 Hz and 60 Hz single-phase input power. 2.2 Connections. The amplifier RF input and output connectors shall be type-N female located on the front panel. The electrical power input shall be located on the rear panel. 2.3 Equipment identification. The amplifier, excluding small accessory items contained within a reusable pouch or container, shall be identified with the items specified in a through d. a. Manufacture name b. Equipment model number with installed options c. Equipment nomenclature d. Serial number 2.4 Environmental Requirements. The amplifier environmental performance requirements shall be as specified below. The amplifier shall conform to the specified performance when subjected to the environmental conditions of this CSS. 2.4.1 Warm-up. The amplifier shall comply with the specified performance requirements after a 30-minute maximum warm-up period preceded by a 2-hour maximum non operating temperature stabilization period. 2.4.2 Temperature and Humidity. The amplifier temperature and humidity limits for both operating and not operating conditions are as specified below. Temperature (C) Relative Humidity (%) Operating 15 to 30 20 to 60 Non-Operating -30 to 70 Not Controlled 3.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Performance requirement for the amplifier shall be in accordance with the sub-paragraphs below. These requirements comprise the full performance requirement for the amplifier. All performance specification shall be met following a 30 minute warm-up period. •· Operation. The amplifier shall be a class A linear amplifier and designed to amplify continuous-wave (CW), amplitude-modulation (AM), frequency-modulation (FM), phase-modulation (PM), and pulse-modulation signals with high fidelity. It is mainly used for the noise figure measurement which required a linear amplifier. The output signal amplitude and phase of a class A amplifier are linearly related to the input signal amplitude and phase. It operates in the linear portion of the characteristics curve and has the lower signal distortion levels and higher linearity. •· Frequency range. The amplifier operating frequency range shall be at least 1 MHz- 1000 MHz. •· Small Signal Gain. The amplifier small signal gain shall be at least 25 dB. •· Gain Flatness. The flatness of the amplifier small signal gain shall not exceed ±1.5 dB maximum. •· Output power. The amplifier output power shall be as follows: •o 1-dB Compression Output Power. The amplifier 1-dB compression output power shall be at least 20 dBm (100 mW). •· Input Impedance. The amplifier input impedance shall be 50 Ω with a VSWR of 1.7:1 maximum. •· Output Impedance. The amplifier output impedance shall be 50 Ω with a VSWR of 1.7:1 maximum. •· Harmonics Distortion. The amplifier harmonic distortion at 20 dBm output power shall be ≤ -30 dBc. •· Noise Figure. The amplifier noise figure shall be 8.5 dB maximum.
