- Background: The Bacteriology Department at the NAVAL MEDICAL RESEARCH UNIT 6 (NAMRU-6) in Lima Peru, requires antibiotic MIC test strips (eTest) in order to determine and antibiotic's Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) against different pathogenic bacterial strains. Bacteriology must be able to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibiotics against N. gonorrhoeae strains using the Illumina Platform. These MIC test strips are used in all the department' ongoing surveillance studies, including Wound, Nosocomial, STI and Enteric Protocols. Quantity: 05 If capable sources are not identified through this notice, then NAMRU 6 intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(i) to GenLab del Peru SAC for the requirements of NAMRU-6. NAMRU-6 has been using these MIC Strips for all the STI Studies, and the assays are standardized. The MIC Strips are required for continuity. GenLab has the entire set of antibiotic strips that we need which ensures standardization of results across multiple sites. GenLab also carries Illumina reagents required by our critical Illumina platform. Materials for both MIC and Illumina Metagenomic Assays available from GenLab are standardized allowing the Bacteriology Department to maintain appropriate QA/QC for these Assays. GenLab del Peru SAC guarantees the temperature-handling and the delivery on site, and also provide the items with the proper expiration dates that must match with the protocols and surveillance timing. This pre-solicitation is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for the requirement. Sources interested in responding to this notice are required to submit a capability statement that includes management and technical data and cost information, in sufficient detail and with convincing evidence that clearly demonstrates the capability to perform the required work. Capability statements shall not exceed 5 (8.5 x 11 inch) pages using a font size no smaller than 10-point. All capability statements received by the due date of this notice will be considered by the Government. A request for documentation or additional information or submissions that only ask questions will not be considered as an affirmative response. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement or to proceed with a sole source contract. Capability statements are due by 12:00 PM Local Time, June 16th, 2017.
