- The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is issuing a Notice of Intent for a Sole Source the award of a firm fixed price contract with Becton, Dickinson and Company, Sparks, MD. The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in Silver Spring, MD hosts a central repository of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs). Isolates are sent to the WRAIR from Department of Defense (DOD) Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and other non-DOD MTFs throughout the world. The mission of the Multidrug-resistant organism Repository & Surveillance Network (MRSN) is to conduct epidemiological surveillance of MDROs to enhance performance improvement and infection control across the DOD. MRSN currently owns a BD Phoenix 100 instrument for identification and susceptibilities of microorganisms. Operating the BD Phoenix 100 system requires periodic maintenance to keep the machine fully functioning and validated. WRAIR intends to acquire preventative maintenance (PM) services for a BD Phoenix 100 system. Purchase of the preventative maintenance agreement will include all labor, all travel, expenses and all parts for an unlimited number of on-demand service visits as well as technical support via telephone. Award of this contract is an essential component to maintain the effectiveness of this central repository at WRAIR as well as maintain the College of American Pathologist accreditation. The estimated period of performance for this acquisition is one year with two one-year options for a total of three years. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. Responsible, interested parties may identify their interest by submitting capability information by Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. EST in order to establish the ability of the responder to meet this requirement. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed contract modification is based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government; information received will be considered for the sole purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not be responsible for any costs associated with responses to this notification. All inquiries must be submitted via e-mail to nathaniel.a.reus.civ@mail.mil.
