Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) intends to issue a sole source contract award to Smiths Detection, Inc located at 30 Hook Mountain Rd, Pine Brook NJ, 070584, for a period of five years. The contract will be awarded in accordance with FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i). The VA requires preventive maintenance service for two Smiths Detection Heimann X-Ray inspection systems and four (4) roller tables located in Hines, Illinois. This requirement includes priority on-site routine and emergency service, support and preventive maintenance to keep this equipment maintained in peak operating condition in accordance with the manufactures specifications. The circumstance surrounding the sole source is due to critical pieces of equipment that must be maintained and repaired to meet all Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Smiths Detection, Inc does not provide warranty of parts installed by a 3rd party company. This task can only be completed by a certified Smiths Detection technician. This is not a Request for Quote. This is a written notice to inform the public of the Government's intent to award on a sole source basis for the required services. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. A determination not to limitedly compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The VA will not be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties in responding to this notice. Only written responses will be considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this notice, the Government shall determine whether a solicitation will be issued. Any prospective contractor must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) in order to be eligible for award. Information concerning SAM registered requirements may be viewed via the Internet at http://sam.gov. Any interested parties shall submit clear and convincing documentation demonstrating their capabilities to satisfy the requirements listed above to Tanya.Sims-Williams@va.gov and micah.kauzlarich@va.gov via email, no later than Tuesday, June 13, 2017 3:30 PM ET. Fax inquiries will not be accepted. Please provide capability documentation that should at minimum, include general information and technical background describing in detail the prospective vendor(s) capabilities and experience that will show the ability to support this requirement.
