Description
The U.S. Geological Survey Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Gainesville, Florida conducts research on a variety of spatial ecology studies including native threatened, and endangered marine vertebrates. The results of the research provide information for a variety of issues including: Improving management of marine lands and resources Assessing the fate of imperiled and at-risk species Understanding likely changes in population dynamics. The USGS requires the use of an aerial imaging camera system to document the distribution and density of sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico. This camera imaging system is custom-made specifically for documentation of turtles at sites utilized by USGS researchers. This system is not commercially available. From FY17-20, the USGS will be leading the sea turtle portion of the Gulf of Mexico Marine Assessment Program for Protected Species (GoMMAPPS). As part of this program, the USFWS will be flying aerial surveys over the nearshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The USGS is tasked with documenting the density of sea turtles during these USFWS-led flights and requires use of imaging system. These USFWS-led flights will begin in July 2017. All interested firms may submit a response by 2:00 pm (EST) June 14, 2017 demonstrating your capabilities and experience to perform the requested service to the primary contact below. Firms responding should indicate whether their socioeconomic status (e.g. small business, service disabled veteran, woman/women owned, HUBZone, etc.). The Government's evaluation of the capabilities of respondents will factor into whether the forthcoming solicitation will be conducted using full and open competition or as a setaside for small businesses or small business designation. This requirement is expected to result in the award of a firm-fixed price contract. For a base year and three option year periods. The anticipated NAICS code for this acquisition is 541370. The size standard is 15.0 million. Any information submitted by respondents to this request for information is voluntary. This request for information notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government reimburse any costs associated with the submission of information in responses to this notice. Respondents will not individually be notified of the results of any government assessments.
