Statement of Work Equipment being ordered: 21 Stryker Prime Zoom Stretcher Transaction number: 644-360-17-00005 Please provide the following information clearly and precisely. Description of what the equipment being requested is: Stretchers are essential to the Radiology Department in the pre, intra, and post procedural care of patients. Stretchers integrate the transportation functionality of wheelchairs with the patient care, comfort, and safety features of a hospital bed while maintaining a reasonable floor space footprint. There are a number of features that we require in a stretcher: Zoom Motorized Drive System with advanced technology design that virtually reduces strenuous pushing, pulling and steering which can often result in threatening back injuries. These features not only increase efficiencies but more importantly, contribute to long-term back health. This will reduce repetitive strain injuries for our staff. Recovery Chair Position. This unique position helps eliminate the need for unnecessary transfers by providing a comfortable position for patients to recover. This innovative feature makes daily patient handling easier and supports both patient and hospital staff safety. This gives us more options for positioning in the recovery of patients. Electric Head End Lift Assist. A powered head end delivers not only convenience for the patient but assists in caregiver safety by reducing the strain when raising and lowering the patient. This also reduces strain. Electric Knee Gatch. The powered knee gatch empowers patients to adjust to their own level of comfort while protecting the caregiver from interruptions, stress and lifting. This also reduces strain. Zero-gap Glideaway Siderails. With ONE fluid motion, these Glideway side rails provide maximum patient security when raised and zero transfer gap when lowered. This is best for patient safety. Two-zone exit alert system using load-cell technology the Chaperone Stretcher Exit System. Zone One is the larger (default) zone, allowing patients more movement before an alert is sent. Zone Two is the smaller zone, to alert caregivers of slight movements, useful when patients are a high fall risk. This is needed for sedated/anesthetized patients who are recovering, and who may be out of direct eyesight of RN staff at some point, due to size of our recovery area. This alert will be best for patient safety. Six wheels. The primary steering mechanism functions on two wheels not one eliminating any sliding across the floor when turning or cornering. Good for transport to and from recovery areas. Physical Requirements: Positioning: Recovery chair positioning with manual hydraulic backup lift assist Manual hydraulic knee gatch Able to achieve both Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg Power: Motorized Drive Retractable cord for integrated battery charge system, 120 volt system Integrated rechargeable battery charge system Form and function Maximum 31 inch width to fit through doorways Accurate Integrated Scales, which is included with the Chaperone (stretcher exit alarm) 700 pound patient weight capacity Zero-gap side rails that fold underneath and out of the way (require no additional space through doorways) Bilateral secure side rails with easy staff releases on both sides Corner cap color coding ability Exit alarms with weight sensors with minimum two zone alert Foot and head end covers   (This is the casing that is normally on stretchers) Litter mounted O2 tank holder Description of how the equipment being requested operates: In Radiology, stretchers are used pre, intra and post-procedurally. Workflow processes that maximize efficiency and patient safety are as follows: In Radiology the patient is admitted to a pre/post procedure bay and is prepped for the procedure on a stretcher (IV start, Changed into gown, patient assessment, and so on). Additional security features are provided with the integrated exit alarms. Patients are wheeled into procedural areas for their procedures where conscious sedation and or anesthesia are administered. At the conclusion of a procedure the patient is wheeled back into the Pre/Post procedure care area for recover and discharge. The workflow benefit gains that result from good stretcher utilization are: Minimize patient transfers thus reducing patient risk of fall. Reduced risk of staff injuries that result from patient transfers. Improved patient comfort and satisfaction. Improved productivity and efficiency of departments because time used for transferring and positioning patients is reduced. Justification: Radiology is activating a larger recovery area as part of an MRI installation project. This new space requires support of additional gurneys. Need for gurneys expected to dramatically increase as we add 6-8 patients undergoing sedation for claustrophobia to our MRI schedule each day. These patients all need recovery space. Additionally, recovery space is needed for patients undergoing hydration as well as for our expanding Interventional Radiology service. Need pre-op weight for every procedure. Many patients are unsteady, wheelchair-bound or fall risk. Using the integrated scale instead of the traditional upright scale will decrease the chance of patient fall as well as staff injury. Improved clinical workflow in the Radiology with prepped and ready for Radiology procedures on a stretcher that can be wheeled directly into the procedure room and transferred directly to the exam table. These gurneys will also be used for other radiology procedures such as ultrasound, paracentesis, and thoracentesis, as well as a holding area for clinic patients awaiting inpatient beds, and so on. Facilitate safe transport of patients to and from procedural areas in the hospital Transport of patients to admitting wards. The intergraded exit alarms provide an additional layer of patient safety in the prevention of elopement. Where will the equipment being requested be used: Radiology Department Who will be using the equipment being requested: Radiology Technologists, Nurses and Physicians This gurney will not contain PHI. 6500.6/Appendix A/Item 6 The Certification and Accreditation requirements do not apply and a Security Accreditation Package is not required. 6500.6/Appendix A/Item 7 The device/service will not be storing/collection any data released outside the VA. There is no sensitive information to protect.
