Description

This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE of a proposed requirement to award one (1) Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) Quad Time of Flight (QTof) Mass Spectrometer Workstation, or a system equal to or better than the salient characteristics. This notice is issued solely for informational and planning purposes and no offers will be accepted. This action also requires warranties, packaging and shipping. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS The VA Healthcare System Medical Research Service intends to acquire a full-scan mass spectrometer system coupled with chromatographic separation is required to identify, characterize, and quantify lipids in the complex biological samples that are generated by researchers involved in the projects incorporated herein. The workstation shall have the ability to discover and quantify moderately polar metabolites, specifically lipids and closely related compounds. The system shall directly and specifically measure a wide range of lipids and related metabolites providing a unique window into cell and organism state, with applications ranging from identification of novel metabolic pathways, discovery of drug targets, and characterization of diagnostic and prognostic markers of disease. The requirement is for an Agilent Technologies Inc. based system or an equal (or better) system in accordance with the specifications outlined in the solicitation. # Item/Stock# Description Est. Qty. Product Specifications As a minimum, the proposed system shall maintain a unique combination of chromatographic separation and mass spectrometric detection such as: Electron Spray Ionization (ESI) with the ability to interchange and use existing atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) source at the Northport VA High data acquisition rate (> 25hz) while maintaining accurate mass (resolving power > 20,000 at 300m/z) and in-scan dynamic range of > 3 log10. 1. Essential to generate sufficient information across narrow chromatographic peaks in complex biological samples while providing necessary resolution and dynamic range for identification of isotopologues Tandem mass spectrometry (MS*MS) for precursor isolation and fragmentation Ultra high pressure liquid chromatography (UHPLC) system integrated to mass spectrometry data acquisition system with the following, at minimum: Binary pump capable of 1200bar or greater backpressure AutoSampler capable using 2mL vials and SBS standard well plates Temperature controlled column compartment with integrated modular switching valve Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) system that can be integrated to the mass spectrometer control software Autosampler capable of using standard vials or well plates Temperature controlled column compartment SFC pressure module, backpressure regulator, and full integration to atmospheric pressure ESI and APCI mass spectrometer interfaces HPLC pump (single channel minimum) of sufficient pressure and flow to introduce makeup solvent to improve APCI and ESI ionization Other unique Requirements and Considerations The mass spectrometer system may require 2 x 30A 208V outlets. The instrument may also require bottle gasses (helium or argon) and high-purity, high-flow nitrogen (up to 60slpm). Instrument exhaust gas, including output from mechanical rough vacuum pump and waste from ionization source, shall be exhausted into fume hood or equivalent non-recirculated air handling system. Instrument will be housed in a space that has a less than 15 F absolute temperature swing, with less than 10 F within a 24h period.
