Description
Introduction The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) supports research related to the basic understanding of microbiology and immunology leading to the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and medical diagnostics for the prevention, treatment, and diagnosis of infectious and immune-mediated diseases. The NIAID, Division of Clinical Research (DCR) has a requirement for Clinical Research Information Management System (CRIMSON) CRIMSON is a collection of services, networks, servers, cross-platform clients, and Web interfaces that support the initiation, conduct, safety, queries, retrieval, and analysis of NIAID human clinical research at the NIH Clinical Center as well as other domestic and international sites. In the 20 years since becoming operational in 1997, CRIMSON has recorded 325,000 patient encounters with 34,000 study subjects on more than 500 clinical studies. There are currently more than 500 active users composed primarily of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, study coordinators, case managers, study monitors, registered nurses, pharmacists, medical coder, and other ancillary healthcare and research staff. CRIMSON is also a modified health information system designed to capture data for the lifecycle of clinical research from modeling of historical data, protocol design and implementation, data collection during the conduct of studies, safety oversight, and FDA reporting, and study closure. CRIMSON products include case report forms, laboratory values extractions, regulatory reports, data safety and monitoring reports, extractions approved for inclusion in the hospital information system, and ad hoc “canned” queries for use by clinicians in monitoring patient safety and study progress. The CRIMSON support team responds to over 400 training and user help tickets per month and provides specialized desktop support for protocol and clinical staff including in the development of CRIMSON interfaces for specific studies and purposes. Description The purpose of this action is to provide services for the continued support of the CRIMSON application and associated operational and data processing workflows. The contractor shall serve as a key resource for NIAID Division of Clinical Research (DCR) Deputy Director of Operations Management (DDOM) in the support of clinical research informatics within select projects. Any responsible offeror may submit a proposal which will be considered by the Agency. This RFP will be available electronically on/about July 2017, and may be accessed through FedBizOpps http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. This notice does not commit the Government to award a contract. No collect calls will be accepted. No facsimile transmissions will be accepted. For this solicitation, the NIAID requires proposals to be submitted via email to Kristi Price, Contract Specialist, at Kristi.price@nih.gov in MS Word or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).
