- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Question: Within the general industry there are two recognized American Society of Quality (ASQ) and the International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC). Both have similar bodies of knowledge. Would the VA accept IASSC courses as an equal to the ASQ? The IASSC body of knowledge is the attached for reference. Answer: No, the VA will not accept IASSC courses. The PWS is written for ASQ. Question: If the goal of the VA is to develop LSS Blackbelts, then completing a ASQ training course will only meet the academic requirements but not the practical experience requirements. In addition to the academic requirements, ASQ requires Six Sigma Black Belt requires two completed projects with signed affidavits, or one completed project with a signed affidavit and three years of work experience, in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge. The IASSC Black Belt certification does not have the same requirement. Students are allowed to take the certification exam upon completion of the IASSC Black Belt course provided by a certified training provider. Answer: This requirement is for training and coordination of certification exams. Final certification will be an activity out of scope for this requirement and will be handled internally once the certification exam is completed. Reference the instructor qualifications. Will the VA accept a CSSMBB certification from a degreed university in lieu of ASQ Master Black Belt Certification. ASQ goes not required a ASQ Master Black Belt Certification in order to teach ASQ Classes. Answer: ASQ certification is the most desired as it represents what the ultimate goal for our staff is. In many cases, Non ASQ certified Black Belts do not have the practical experience that we are looking for in an instructor. Many universities are similar to IASSC and do not require any practical experience or completed projects to obtain certification. No more questions will be accepted at this time.
