In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs. 5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review the other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. 5.3 THIS SHIP CONTAINS HIGH VOLTAGE (HV) ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. OBEY ALL POSTED AND VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING SAFETY AND EXCLUSION FROM HIGH VOLTAGE AREAS. AT NO TIME APPROACH, WORK ON, OR ENTER A HIGH VOLTAGE AREA WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION. 5.4 THE T-AKE CLASS ELECTRICAL COLOR CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK, AND WHITE. ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE ENERGIZED UNTIL TESTED AND PROVEN OTHERWISE. TEST ALL ELECTICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DE-ENERGIZED PRIOR TO WORKING ON THE ITEM. 5.5 The contractor and subcontractors shall review other work items under this contract, to determine their effect on the work required by this item. Based on this review, the contractor shall plan and schedule work to minimize conflicts between work items. 5.6 The contractor shall perform shipchecks and templating to retrieve accurate measurements and information before conducting work. 5.1 Performance Period: 15 - 29 Jul 2017 5.2 Performance Location: Tafakula Tonga 5.3 Port Engineer Contact information: Tony Thompson Port Engineer USNS SACAGAWEA (T-AKE 2) 757.443.0878 Office 757.439.6353 Cell anthony.d.thompson2@navy.mil 6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional. 7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED: 7.1 ELECTRONIC 7.1.1 Prior to the commencement of any work the contractor shall meet with the ship's captain or designated Navigator. Back up the existing ship specific port data on the Simrad MX-512 DGPS and Saab R4 AIS. Verify all DGPS and AIS I/O signals to/from NMEA buffers and junction boxes in accordance with references 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. Using reference 2.1 and actual visual survey make a list to document all CDU, interface and "J" box pin out connections and cable tag numbers (take especial note of any conductors not currently listed in the reference and identify interfacing system) in a condition report and final redline drawings. 7.2 Equipment removals 7.2.1 Disconnect power at the breaker panels for the AIS and DGPS Systems. Disconnect and remove the SAAB R4 AIS and Simrad DGPS to include the following: a. GPS antenna 08 STBD HAND RAIL (1) EA b. R4 Transponder INSIDE WHSE CABINET FWD (1) EA c. R4 Control Display WHSE FWD STBD CONSOLE 1 EA d. Simrad MX-512 DGPS CDU WHSE AFT STBD NAV CONSOLE (2) EA e. Simrad MX-521A DGPS Junction box (2) EA. NOTE: Do not remove the MX-521 antennas, existing power cable, RF or NMEA data distribution cables for the AIS and DGPS Systems as it is intended to reuse them. 7.3 Equipment Installations 7.3.1 Install the new R5 AIS in the panel vacated by the R4 removal using the flush mount adapter plate. Install the new R5 AIS Transponder on the inside of the cabinet in location vacated by the removal of the R4. Attach ground wire bond strap to the transponder and display unit and connect up all interface cables as per the installation manual. All new installations shall be done in accordance with references 2.3 and 2.4 7.3.2 Install the new MX-612 DGPS and Junction boxes in the wheel house locations vacated by the removal of the MX-512. Bond- ground the display unit and "J" box and connect interface wiring in accordance with MFR installation manual and ships wiring diagram in reference 2.2. 7.3.3 Verify all pin outs prior to energizing the system. Ensure all cables are run in existing runs or neatly banded in new runs with stainless steel banding and channel rubber in accordance with MSC GTR No. 28. 7.3.4 Mark or label all cables with tags at least every 50 ft. of run, on each side of a deck or bulkhead and at each termination point. Provide new label plates for equipment power panels and key location points equivalent to the existing tag types. 7.3.5 Restore power to the AIS and DGPS Systems and configure them with ship specific parameters and port settings. 7.4 Inspection/Testing 7.4.1 Set up (restore) AIS and DGPS equipment strapping and or port programming settings to reflect the ship characteristics and data previous held by predecessor systems. 7.4.2 Perform a complete test of the AIS & DGPS Systems in the presence of the MSC REP and ships Navigator or designee in accordance with references 2.3 and 2.4. Test all modes, channels and parameters. Verify proper satellite reception, transmission and passing of I/O data to/from R/T port units to and from all interfacing equipment. 7.4.3 Provide the ships company a minimum of 4 hours training on the AIS and 4 hours on the DGPS Systems. 7.4.4 Submit a final comprehensive inspection and test report to the MSC REP that the AIS & DGPS was installed in accordance with MFR requirements and meets all IMO/SOLAS and USCG requirements. Include any details outlined any remaining system deficiencies or work required. 7.5 DRAWINGS 7.5.1 Provide redline drawings and new installation drawings for the tasks accomplished in this work item. Submit e-copies to the Port Engineer for review upon completion of this Service Order. 7.6 PAINTING 7.6.1 Prepare, prime and paint with (2) top coats all surfaces disturbed as a result of this work item to match the adjacent area. 8.0 MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE: 8.1 Manufacturer Representative (MFR REP) 8.1.1 Provide the services of a Sperry OEM Electronic Manufacturer's Representative to perform all tasks in this work item. Sperry built and installed the Integrated Bridge System (IBS) for the T-AKE CLASS and has possession of all Proprietary installation drawings and technical data required to perform this upgrade and integration with the other crucial bridge systems.
