- Description
- The Missile Defense Agency is announcing the award of modification C5 to previously awarded contract HQ0147-12-G-9000 0001 to Lockheed Martin Corporation -Space Systems Company (LMSSC), Sunnyvale, California for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Weapon System. This cost plus incentive fee award for software engineering support totaled $18,861,310. This modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contact to $467,946,297.01 from $449,084,987.01. This modification acquires Continental United States and Outside Continental United States software engineering support to ensure execution of the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) case AE-B-UAF to field the THAAD Weapon System. Work will be performed in Sunnyvale, California, Huntsville, Alabama, El Paso, Texas and in the UAE with an expected completion date of January 23, 2019. Non-expiring, direct site funds (as provided under this FMS case) will be used. The Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Alabama is the contracting activity (HQ0147). This sole source contract action is authorized under the provisions of 10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1) and (d)(1)(B), as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) and (iii), which authorizes other than full and open competition when the required supplies/services are available from only one responsible source, or only from a limited number of responsible sources, and no other support or services will satisfy the agency requirements. Award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition and would also result in unacceptable delays in fulfilling the Agency's requirements.
