- Description
- SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on vendors that are capable of providing a Cryogen Free Refrigeration and measurement System as described in the draft specifications. The purpose of this notice is to identify organizations capable of providing the necessary item and meeting the minimum contractor qualifications. This announcement is not a Request for Proposals or Quotes (RFP/RFQ) and does not commit the Government to award a contract now or in the future. The information contained in this notice is DRAFT only and as such, is subject to change prior to issuance of a solicitation. No solicitation is available at this time. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive or non-competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. NIST will use the results of this sources sought notice to determine whether to proceed on a sole source basis or competitively if it is determined that other vendors could potentially meet NIST's needs. This requirement is assigned a NAICS code of 334516 with a small business size standard of 1000 employees. Interested business organizations that believe they are capable of meeting the requirement should submit electronic copies of their capability statement. Please limit responses to four (4) pages or less. Responses should include the following information: 1. Name of company that will provide product. 2. Name of company that will manufacture the product. 3. Spec sheets and examples of products that meet the specifications. 4. Typical lead time to deliver the product after receipt of order. 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research. Any proprietary information should be so marked. The written capability statement should be received by the Contracting Officer no later than 11 a.m. MST Wednesday, July 5, 2017. The capability statement shall identify the business status of the organization. SPECIFICATIONS Wavelength Conversion Modules for 534 nm NB688000-17-04153 BACKGROUND: The Ion Storage Group of the Time and Frequency Division develops optical clocks based on transition frequencies in individual trapped ions. To perform laser cooling and spectroscopy of these trapped ions, we require several different laser wavelengths derived from various laser sources. Since many of the resonance frequencies are in the ultraviolet spectral range, we generate the light by frequency conversion from visible or infrared sources, where high-power, narrow linewidth lasers are readily available. PURPOSE: The Ion Storage Group requires wavelength conversion modules to frequency-double light near 1069 nm to 534 nm. This will produce laser light used for addressing transitions in Al+ when operating an optical clock. DELIVERABLES: 2 wavelength conversion modules TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Wavelength conversion module Quantity: 2 Operating wavelength: BOTH 534.85 nm and 533.95 nm (Device may be used with either wavelength) Input power: Up to 1 Watt Output power: At least 300 mW through free space Conversion efficiency: >50%/ W at low power, > 300 mW output with 1 W input Other: - If thermal stabilization is required, the devices must include a heater and thermal sensor inside the package. - All devices have a polarization-maintaining input fiber and unfiltered, free-space output. - Reliability: Manufacturer must be able to demonstrate reliability by showing at least 300 mW output power at operating wavelength for 100 hours. - Output window transmits both the visible and residual IR light TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS: All technical specifications given above are important. NIST prefers vendors with a proven track record of meeting these demanding vibration isolation specifications. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY OR INFORMATION: none DELIVERABLE SCHEDULE: 4 Months ARO INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE: Acceptable equipment shall meet all technical specifications. We will inspect and test the system after delivery including measurements of the conversion efficiency and power handling. ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ATTACHMENTS/REFERENCES: _____________________________________________________________________________________
